Another Friday night is upon us and it certainly doesn’t feel as if it has been a full seven days since the last one – but it has!

Is it me or are the weeks going quicker and the weekend’s quicker still? That must mean that I’m having so much fun in work that the time just flies. It’s been a long hard week in work but a rewarding one. I’ve managed to achieve a lot and despite being absolutely cream crackered tonight I will look forward to Monday – but only when Monday is upon us!

As a special treat I decided to take the night off from training. I have rowed nine out of 11 nights recently so why not! I’ll be back on the rowing machine tomorrow but for one night I can relax and enjoy a little tv.

I nearly forgot, spent a few bucks at lunch thanks to the amazing deals Lovell Rugby have on at the moment. I decided to buy a Queensland Reds Super 14 wet weather training jacket. It looks amazing and although I don’t want it to rain I hope I get to try it out soon! At just £16.99 it’s a bargain!

A few weeks ago I heard that my current gym of 3 months was to close at the end of July. I wasn’t that bothered to be honest, I never got on with the place and preferred to row at home on my Concept 2 (at Gymworld) – the atmosphere wasn’t anything special and it never had that pull to get me to go five times a week.

I popped along to my local Bannatyne’s health club tonight to check it out and see what the atmosphere and facilities were like. I was pleasantly surprised and following my visit I am 85% positive I will join in the next few days. I want to step up my training and finish what I started 18 months ago – for the first time in a very long time I can see the light at the end of a big tunnel!

The health club has a pool and all the usual suspects that go with a pool – sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi but I won’t be concentrating on that side for a month or so – it’s the air conditioned gym and studios that excited me. Packed with great equipment, trainers and a great vibe I think I’ll be happy working out. Talking of great trainers – if you are in the Leeds area you have to check out the ladies who run Boot Camp Leeds, they are legends and always happy to help if you have any questions.

Earlier this week I was introduced to a website called Food Focus; a site that helps you track what you are eating and together with a basic exercise calculator you have a better understanding of calories consumed during the day. I have found I’ve been a lot more careful with portions this week due to the introduction of this website and perhaps more importantly I’ve found it interesting.

Tracking how much protein, carbs and fat you consume couldn’t be easier and the best thing of all ? It’s free! Now don’t get me wrong I don’t see this as a diet, I hate the word. I see it as an experiment into portion control and resisting the temptation to overfill my plate!

With this in mind and a decent amount of rowing this week I decided to weigh earlier tonight – I’ve lost another 3.4 lbs or approx. 1.40 Kg. Superb result. I’m not getting carried away but what I thought was impossible 2 years ago is now within my grasp – I am 1lb away from 16 stone and a total weight loss of 6 ½ stone.

Once I join the new gym and have a meeting with the trainers I should be able to move up a gear and take my life forward. I have more confidence and a greater outlook on life – what more could you wish for?!!
