Chilled Orange Juice

It’s been a very long week this week and I decided to take a well-earned night off from rowing in my gym and took time out to relax, read a book (Deadlock by Sean Black) and watch the very last big brother on Channel 4. Over the last few years, after being an avid Big Brother viewer I’ve been watching less and less – frustrated by an ever increasing amount of producer manipulation and the silly antics from Davina McCall.

With that in mind and the fact I’d given myself the night off I thought I had to watch at least some of the finale as it had at one time or another given me a few hours of entertainment over the years, especially Big Brother 5. I enjoyed it to a certain degree. It hadn’t changed, still contrived and predictable but in fairness the British public got it right – Brian Dowling was and is the ultimate housemate.

I woke up early this morning and I was out of the door by 7:05 am and on my way to the shops to collect a few essentials I couldn’t be bothered getting last night in the torrential rain and low level fog hanging over the mountain.

Now I’ve never been one to get sucked in to subliminal or clever marketing ploys, I am my own man. I know what I want and don’t need multi-million dollar commercials to tell me what that is. However, over the last few weeks a new Tropicana commercial has been airing, you know the one, set in the great city of San Francisco.

I love my orange juice but for some reason I’ve never tried Tropicana. As I made my way past the throngs of early morning shoppers I spotted the orange juice on special offer – it was in my basket as quick as a flash and I was half way home before I had realised I was advertising fodder! Easy prey!

After settling down, I took my iPhone, energy drink and walked into the gym to do a 7k row on the concept2 rower. I usually just put the iPhone on shuffle but for a change decided on The Zac Brown band would accompany on my static journey. They were very welcome visitors and before I knew it the session had come to a satisfying end and I was walking back into the kitchen for a cool glass of water.

By the way, the soundtrack to the Tropicana commercial in the video above is “Listen to the music” by the Doobie Brothers – just in case someone’s interested! And for the record …. I thought Davina had a pretty decent night all in all, very professional.

The steps that lead to murder and intrigue

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from CBS’s new thriller series Harper’s Island. The promotions were plentiful and showed a great deal of promise – but would the series premier live up to the hype? I think it did, in fact it excelled my expectations and I for one can’t wait to see what and who happens next!

HARPER’S ISLAND is about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle for a destination wedding. This island is famous for a streak of unsolved murders from seven years ago. Although they’ve come to laugh and to love, what they don’t know is they’ve also come… to die. As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival.

For the record, I did not see the first murder coming. Ok I had an idea that given the fact it was dark and the cameras were lurking in the woods something would happen but the victim? Last person I thought of!! This series has potential!!

Oh dear, hanging around on the island

In every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect, from the wedding party to the island locals. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.

The premiere opens with what can only be described as a gruesome murder – a terrible way to die – not that there is ever a good way to be killed but the first one is particularly horrifying! All I’ll say is boat, prop and scuba tank – ouch!!!!

Featuring a stellar and rather familiar cast, Harper’s Island appears to be a slick production. Full of family secrets, killers, affairs and a sufficient amount of intrigue if the first episode is anything to go by CBS have a hit on their hands. Given that each episode includes a murder, only time will tell if they can do well enough to get a second run next season.

Jade Goody

Reality TV star Jade Goody has died at the age of 27, her spokesman Max Clifford has confirmed.

She died at home with her family in Upshire, Essex, overnight on Saturday after a high-profile battle with cervical cancer.

Goody was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 but it spread to her liver, groin and bowel and she was told it was terminal in February.

Goody shot to fame after being a contestant in the third series of Big Brother in 2002 and was taking part in a version of the show in India when she was told of her illness. Full Story here

The harsh reality of her death comes on the very day that she would have been fighting so hard to see, Mother’s Day. Jade was without question a mother first and a star second. She loved her kids and would have so loved to have spent a final day at home with them. It wasn’t to be.

Let me start by laying my cards on the table;I have never been or will I likely be a fan or admirer of Jade Goody of Big Brother fame in the UK. Sure the girl has done well for herself, nothing wrong with that and you have to feel for her now that it has been confirmed she is dying from Cancer. That said, where the hell does Jack Straw get off from allowing her Fiance (Jack Tweed) to spend the wedding night with her? The guy has been convicted of assault, sentenced for 18 months and because Jade is who she is, the curfew has been relaxed.

I seriously doubt if the average Joe would get the same treatment as Tweed. What gives Straw the right to give him special treatment? Does this now set a standard for everyone? It will certainly be interesting when the next convicted criminal wants a favour because his or her partner is dying.

Perhaps what is more worrying is that MP, hell even the Prime Minister Gordon Brown was asked questions regarding Jade Goody by the press; for the second time within a week! What is the world coming to?

I watched Sky News yesterday and a guest they had on had the audacity to compare Goody’s plight with that of Princess Diana when she died. What the frack? Goody and Diana in the same sentance? Give me a break! Going back to Jack Straw while I can; he shouldn’t get involved but he seems hell bent using the occasion as a populus decision.

As I’ve said, the fact that Jade has cancer at such a young age is devastating and I don’t think anyone would have wished that on her family. Was she right to sell her soul for the wedding and make so much money ? why not, I don’t have a problem with that. If magazines are stupid enough to pay out that sort of money good luck to those in the winners circle!

Something that has just caught my eye I’m also finding it hard to believe someone has ked for it!!! Shilpa Shetty has called for prayer and a two minute silence for Jade!!! I will remember those who gave their lives in the World Wars, I will remember those who died in New York on 9/11, I will remember devastating disasters but a two minute silence for Jade Goody ? Like hell I will!

Oh dear, it only took eight days before racism reared its ugly head once again in the Big brother house. It happened late last night during a conversation between Emily and Charley. Emily with only 19 years of wisdom behind her deemed it necessary and ok to call Charley a nigger. With the UK version under so much scrutiny following the Shilpa Shetty row with chav Jade Goody it was inevitable that the producers would not take her comments lightly.

She is a stupid girl and was a consistent presence in the major rows to erupt in the house in the last few days. I for one am glad she has gone and if this is a true reflection on how she feels she should be ashamed of herself. As I haven’t seen the comment yet (to be shown tonight on C4 highlights) I cannot judge.

Emily: I’m friendly with plenty of black people.
Nicky: And you call them niggers?
Emily: Yeah and they call me niggers. They call me wiggers as well.

The Commission for Racial Equality said this morning that it is “relieved” that Channel 4 “acted quickly” in evicting Big Brother housemate Emily Parr for using the word “n*gger”.

In a statement, a CRE spokesperson said: “We’re relieved that Channel 4 has acted quickly. Whichever way you look at it, the ‘N’ word is clearly offensive.

“This will show everyone that racism must never be tolerated in any way, shape or form.

“We can see from this incident that there is no stereotype of a racist, they come from all walks of life, education and social background.

“Two series of Big Brother, two racist incidents – this just shows how prevalent racism really is in Britain today.”

Although I said I wouldn’t …. I did !!! Big Brother 8 is upon us and the big producers at Endemol and Channel 4 have decided to place 11 women in the house and not one man – surely the first time in Big brother history that this has happened? Yes I know a guy is going in on Friday to spice things up but I can’t help think that they’ve made a mistake with this decision – only time will tell I guess. I’ll give it a week !!!

Wouldn’t it be funny if they decide to put a very healthy attractive male in the house and watch the women squirm for attention – only to find out that he is infact Gay! Can I say that ? Oops there I’ve said it ! What would make it even funnier is if he wasn’t allowed to say he was Gay and his reward was to stay in the house if they didn’t find out ! I guess we won’t have long to find out !

I can’t for the life of me remember all the names but I will comment on a few….. The TWINS ! aargggh – someone please shoot me ! The idea of two gorgeous female twins usually would do it for me but these two are dam annoying, right from the get go with high screeching and it’s pink, it’s pink cries of satisfaction. it’s as if Big Brother designed the house just for them. The claim they do everything together will be interesting to watch during their stay – will they crack ? I hope so ! Go on Big brother, separate them !

The two lookers are the Victoria Beckham look alike (when she dresses up like her) and Charley with the most amazing set of ummmmm you know what !!!! Charley didn’t start off well with the crowd with her pre entry video tape declaring she sets the trends people follow and that she is an IT girl. Being an ex lap dancer must give her some credit surely !!!

 Laura is at the moment the only other housemate of any note, a typical friendly and bubbly girl from the Rhondda Valleys in Wales she exudes friendliness and could turn out to be a cracking housemate if she’s given the chance. It just depends if her fellow pretty housemates wants someone who doesn’t conform to size zero and the glamour mags – I hope she stays for a while.

So that’s my brief summary of the situation for what it’s worth – they need to get some men in there to balance the hormones out and knowing Big brother as we do they will take their own sweet time to do it! Until they go in we won’t see the romance and sexual tension we love to watch year in year out.

I’ve just finished sitting through the first eviction of Big Brother Australia and I have to say I am not surprised at the outcome. Kate was evicted and Jamie and Bodie were saved by the public. I don’t know how many votes Bodie and Jamie received but I hope Jamie received the least because he is such a likable guy. Not struck on Bodie but he doesn’t seem a nasty guy, just not someone I would want to spend time with !!!

Despite her better than average looks the other person i just can’t work out is Emma – I just don’t like her personality and I fear that Aleisha is being sucked into the world of Emma. I don’t like the bitching and I just have the feeling she’s a nasty piece of work underneath. That said it’s only an opinion gleaned from my time watching the show – I don’t know her so I could be wrong !!!

My favourite is still Hayley, she appears grounded and has a good heart. I’m loving the twists and turns this season and the housemates have no idea what is going on – mind you the same could be said for the viewers !!! TJ is one to watch, another of those I can’t work out and one I’m sure will get on people’s nerves before too long. The look in her eyes when attacking Thomas was pure evil and it wouldn’t surprise me if I heard she was on therapy and was in fact crazy !!!! One thing is clear, you should never lead her on if you have no intention of going through with it !!!!!

I’m loving Big Brother 2007 (Australia) so far and will continue to watch unless it becomes stupid. It is certainly a far cry from the UK version or Big Brother Celebrity (again UK) and a marked improvement – then again it wasn’t hard was it! Hayley won the Firday night challenge and it was no shock to hear that she chose boyfriend Andrew to share her bed in the rewards room !

Back to Kate’s eviction – I thought she handled the eviction interview well and came across a good person. I’m sure she is a confident woman out in the real world, I just think she shot herself in the foot in that first week. Her tragic story about losing a baby 18 months ago to Preeclampsia was very emotional and she was correct in that it brought a disorder to light. Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms.

Just sat down and watched the latest installment of Big Brother Australia 2007 and boy was it a good one!!! One thing that surprised me though was Cruz giving up on only $AU750 to leave the white room ! You spend 6 days in there eating nothing but porridge and wearing white clothes and you give up for a poxy 750 bucks ? Crazy !

Meanwhile in the main house, Andrew and Hayley manage to hide their relationship from the majority of the house although Jamie’s detection was something out of a Sherlock Holmes novel – both had the same photographic background paper ? .I didn’t think of that but that was bloody clever! So there we have it, the house pass the first weekly task thanks to Andrew and Hayley and the prize money has grown from nothing to $AU50k – well done.

I’m really enjoying this series, much more than I did the UK version last year – we are only a couple of months away from Big Brother UK but I can’t see any reason for me to stop watching the Australian version – they seem real to me. Take Travis, does anyone else think he’s like a Victorian Shane Warne ? His posture is similar and his mannerism typically Victorian. At the moment he is certainly a favourite of mine but the most attractive is definitely Hayley for me = awesome !!!

I hope it continues to impress as I can at the moment see me lasting the distance.

Grace Dent who writes for the BBC Radio Times magazine has written a very interesting article today and I have to say I share her thoughts. Jade has been evicted yet the main alleged racists remain in the house. Sure Jade is a vile excuse for a human being and the sooner she is off our screens the better. How many more appearances can we handle where she talks about her family and then cries on queue. “I’m sorry” has been said far too easily but it comes at the same point in every tv interview she has done since leaving the house. Time for you to sell up Jade and move your family to the same island channel 4′s shipwrecked reality show was recorded 5 months ago. I’ve had enough of Jade now so let’s move on.

Danielle and Jo are still there and boy will they get a shock when they leave the house in the next week or so. It appears, if newspaper reports are to believed, that she has been dumped by Teddy Sheringham the West Ham striker – I hope he does drop her, she’s not worth the effort. She has now had at least three contracts cancelled and there are more to follow I’m sure. We have no place in society for like minded people. Racists are not welcome.

Bullying has been a big factor in many Big Brother shows over the last few years yet channel 4 are keen to turn a blind eye, it’s about time they were pulled up on it and like Grace says – it was only a matter of time. Cleo who started off as a front runner has blown any chance of winning with her double agent behaviour siding with the evil witches of BB! The final straw for me was the other night when she was throwing herself on Dirk “The Face” Benedict, it made uncomfortable viewing and when he said stop it should have been enough. If a man had done that to a woman and continued I’m sure more serious allegations would have followed. Anyway, now for Grace’s article ………..

After years spent working myself up into a right old tiz about “the social impact” of Big Brother, it was disconcerting when the rest of the world joined in the game too. Especially when most of the experts I watched didn’t seem to know anything about the show at all.

“Mmmm…well, I haven’t really been watching,” people in starched shirts flustered on Sky News, Five News, ITN etc. “So I can’t really comment…however what I will say is blah, blah, blah…”

And off they’d wiffle for the next five minutes linking daft comments about Oxo cubes with the plight of Martin Luther King and the assent of the Russian far right.

Meanwhile, having learned nothing from the Brass Eye paedophile scandal, MPs from every party rushed to condemn Big Brother before even watching the highlights (sorry, lowlights).

Carphone Warehouse pulled out their sponsorship. Modelling contracts were cancelled. All week long the public phoned Ofcom to complain about the bullying of Shilpa Shetty. And today a committee of bigwigs and people in cufflinks with chauffeurs will converge to discuss the show’s future.

The one thing I’ve never heard any expert say over the last week was that this was bound to happen one day. This sort of media wildfire could’ve spread last CBB with Pete Burns’s tirades, or during BB7 when Grace Adams-Short whipped Britain into a cross-eyed fug by being the perfect girls’ school bully.

The plain fact is that the UK version of Big Brother is now a media concept comparable to no other in the world. It’s a deeply important, unifying show that millions of everyday people watch and devour.

From what I know of Big Brother, I think it was unfeasible that Endemol could cajole a nation into caring so passionately about the show, saturate the schedule with so many hours of footage, shove in so many hideous contestants, without one day the reaction spilling over into a national incident. An incident that a load of 20-something media graduates in headsets in Elstree were totally ill-equipped to control.

I don’t think that any of the MPs and TV execs investigating Big Brother right now have any true sense of the show’s power. Or that they really grasp the full effect of putting a show on for 90 consecutive days in the summer (with round-the-clock coverage on digital TV and numerous daily spin-off shows, too).

Additionally, I don’t think any of them are aware that antisocial behaviour, bitchiness and Lord of the Flies bullying are now main themes. I don’t think they understand how involved the public become as “storylines” touch raw nerves with most people.

There was a time a couple of years ago when Endemol just about contained the public’s anger over antisocial contestants by allowing us to vote them out. The sanctity of the voting process and the idea of baddies getting a rough eviction night seemed to sate the nation.

In my opinion, one of the stupidest things Endemol did was faff about with the voting process during BB7 and stick Grace Adams-Short in for more schoolgirl bullying because it was brilliant for ratings.

The moment the viewers started to feel voting was worthless, I think a call to Ofcom and Channel 4 became a much more satisfying phone call instead. Let’s face it, we could have voted Jade Goody out by text until our hearts were content, but it wouldn’t stop some bright spark putting her back in this Thursday as “a twist”.

I think a lot of the 43,000 people who called Ofcom were complaining about the whole picture of Big Brother today, not just Jade Goody. I think they were complaining about Jackiey, Jack, Jo and Danielle, not just Jade. I think people are sick to death of all the antisocial behaviour and thought 50 pence could be spent better with Ofcom than with Endemol. That’s just my opinion. If you’d like me to put on a starched shirt and mumble on Sky News about “a clash of cultures” then I’m sorry I can’t.

Oh, and incidentally, I’m a little tired of the whole “it’s a clash of cultures” argument. Jade Goody might be the same colour as me, but she is not my culture. If we’re choosing sides, I’d like to be synonymous with the culture of the Hindu woman from India who has class and self-respect. Not the burping, farting woman calling her “Shilpa F***wallah”.

Anyway, as Jade Goody starts stage one of her comeback, ie lots of grovelling and sobbing on every talk show she can, moaning about her secret houses and being “away from her kiddies” eventually leading to a reality-TV show about her “comeback”, the scene in the CBB house is still rather unpleasant.

Jack Tweedy – what are you still doing there? If you had any modicum of loyalty you’d have walked out alongside your girlfriend and showed her some support. Bearing in mind it’s my guess she probably paid for every shred of clothes on your back and was your shoe-in to this whole experience.

If the Big Brother producers briefed Jade on Friday morning as to the uproar outside, I’ve no idea why you still remain. I bet the only reason the producers have convinced you to stay is because they hope you’ll get off with Danielle.

This is a distinct possibility as the pair of you seem so perilously short of brain cells it can’t be long before you forget the real reason you’re “celebrities”.

Danielle – if you still have a relationship when you get out of this house I’ll crowbar myself into a salmon-pink size-six velour tracksuit and dance down Oxford Street singing Reach for the Stars.

The one brilliant thing about a WAG entering the CBB house has been to hold a magnifying glass up to what life at home must be like for poor, hopefully deaf, Teddy Sheringham.

Can any of us imagine what it must be like for a 41-year-old man to be trapped in a house with this stupid little girl day in, day out? She must be dynamite in bed that’s all I can hope, because the long winter nights must be bloody scintillating hearing her talk about frocks. Why haven’t you married her already, Teddy? Why?!

Jo O’Meara – how, how, how are you flying under everyone’s radar in this whole mess? You were a crucial part of this drama. You disliked Shilpa from the offset and have sat sniping about her for two weeks, before dispatching Biffa Bacon Goody to do your dirty work. You’re probably more guilty of being bitchy than Jade because you are not in the least bit stupid.

You’re simply a miserable scrote who’s angry at the world now your child-star career has vanished. Next time you feel so lost in the world, love, get a life coach and some St John’s Wort, not an application form for Strictly Come Dancing.

And don’t even start me on Cleo…actually, come back on Wednesday and I’ll carry on…

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to write anything in the blog but it’s great to be back and do something for a change on WordPress. I can’t tell you how much I had been looking forward to watching Celebrity Big Brother last week and imagine my horror when I heard rumours that Jade Goody and her family would play a part in the programme. Why oh why do the producers at Endemol want to subject us to this ?

I have to admit I’m a bit of a fan of Dirk, Shilpa and Jermaine Jackson and had initially liked Danielle and Jo but as the week has progressed, racisim (if you can call it that), vile behaviour and bullying have all reared its ugly head. Channel 4 will of course not show it – after all if they don’t publish it on their website or show it on the evening highlights (or should that be lowlights) it didn’t happen right ? Wrong.

Jade’s mum was the first to attack Shilpa, some have said racism but I tend to look at it more along the lines that she is just ignorant and lacking in social skills and education. Jack and Danielle on the other hand along with Jade have attacked her more aggressively, not physically of course but mentally. I simply can’t stand to watch any more of it – as many true fans of Big Brother have said “it’s starting to get unwatchable“. Danielle after drinking far too heavily last night caused a scene and went running to her “best mate” Jade who both then turned on Shilpa and attacked her while the live show was airing causing the producers to end the interview with the evictee and go back to the house.

I sincerely hope the producers and Endemol get what they deserve for allowing this rubbish on our screens. They are blikered and the more websites and blogs that start reporting this tripe the better. We live in a multi cultured society and comments from Jack about Shilpa “she’s trying to make her face white” while applying hair remover is downright obnocious. Then again we are talking about the Goodys so maybe it is to be expected.

This will of course be overlooked by Dermot and Davina – no doubt both will laugh it off and sweep it under the carpet – just like a family secret that’s not to be mentioned outside the family. Crazy. Not happy, not happy at all.

Fiji hasn’t known anything quite like it, apart from last year that is ! Love Island has come to an end for another year and given the viewers ratings , unlikely to return for a third year. You never know though. I’ve really enjoyed it, a lot more than Big Brother to be fair, but that wasn’t hard given the bunch of weirdos on BB and the constant meddling by the production team.

Kate was the first to be evicted which left two boys (Calum and Brendan) and two girls (Bianca and Kelle). Paddy and Fearne gave all four a quick run-down before announcing that the winners of ITV’s Love Island were drum roll ………

I’m a little disappointed for Kelle and Brendan, they have been the strongest of all those taking part this year and to be fair, have been rocks throughout. I don’t think it’s right for someone to come in 4 weeks in to win the competition but it’s a popularity contest and Brendan fell at the last hurdle.

Congratulations to Bianca Gascoigne and Calum Best on winning. It’s been a blast. I wonder what will happen between Leo and Bianca now? Only time will tell!

Congratulations to Pete on winning Big brother 7. I really wanted Glyn to win mainly because for an 18 year old he seems a top bloke and because his journey has been amazing since going into the house over 90 days ago.  He has carried the flag for the Welsh, too much at times but you have to admire his pride in the Welsh language and country.

Also very impressed with hoshe took coming second, congratulating Pete time after time before Davina called him out to face his adoring public. To see a complete run down on who was evicted and when click here.

Big Brother 7 in the UK is finally coming to a close with the remaining six finalists eagerly awaiting Davina’s call to ask them to vacate the most famous house in the UK, apart from number 10 that is!

I’ll provide a run down of events tonight and keep you informed as to who has been evicted and who wins. Before Davina evicts the first of the remaining house mates, the ex house mates are introduces to the mad crowd. Shabaz and Bonnie are first up followed by Grace and Mikey who were royally booed by the entire crowd, aimed specifically at Grace methinks! Jonathan (who never made it into the main house) and Jane were next, both receiving a good reception. Welsh babe Imogen and fake boring Suzie were next to climb to the stage, a luke warm reception ensued.

There are obviously far too many ex house mates as they are all in pairs tonight. Spoiral receives a massive hug from Davina and standing by his side is Michael. Sam and George were the penultimate pairing followed by Lea and Lisa. Less said about them the better I think! Right onto the main reason we are here tonight ……

• 1st Evicted and in 6th Place is……..Jennie. I have to say I’m very disappointed with this, I so wanted the fake Nikki to go first. Oh well !! There’s always fifth !
• 2nd Evicted and in 5th Place is…….Nikki. Superb, great result, one better than I wanted but at least she hasn’t won. Stand by for histrionics once again. Why are they booing me? !!!!
• 3rd Evicted and in 4th Place is……..Richard. The Thunderbird has gone, about bloody time !! This leaves just Aisleyne, Glyn and Pete.
• 4th Evicted and in 3rd Place is……..Aisleyne. Didn’t expect that but very pleased Glyn has made it to the final two. I can’t see Pete losing this, his lead is huge!
• 5th Evicted and in 2nd Place is……..Glyn. Shame he couldn’t quite make it as the first Welsh winner of Big brother but he did himself and Wales proud.
• 6th Evicted and in The Winner of Big Brother 7 is……..Pete. Not the winner I wanted but the bookies favourite more or less from the start, fairly obvious really and an anti-climactic end to the series.

Ok you’ll be pleased to hear I’m not going to go on tonight too much about Love Island, thanks mainly to a non eventful day in Fiji and of course Sophie Anderton! The couples were chosen; Calum chose Bianca, Chris chose Colleen and Lee chose Kelle which left me me on her own, bless.

The fact that Chris chose Colleen must have been the last straw as she couldn’t face a week on her own as the singleton. She then confessed to everyone her time was up and she realised her heart belonged to someone back home, go figure! Is it me or has she said that because Shane did the exact same thing ? Maybe I’m being unfair, but I don’t think so! Sophie wants to go home shocker!

Calum and Bianca are getting a lot closer, kissing and hugging around the resort but no one else is getting any loving that’s for sure. I am beginning to think that love island has run it’s course and should conclude this week – it won’t of course but we can all hope. It’s very much the same feeling with Big Brother, it went on far too long and like Love island has become very stale. The hit of the series is the interaction and segments from Matt Brown and Jayne Middlemiss plus the humour from Patrick Kielty on the main show. I’ve enjoyed it but please no more!!

I am absolutely loving this at the moment … Lady V is going back into love island to shake things up with Sophie “me me” Anderton ! I enjoy twists and turns when they are warranted, unlike big brother’s twists this year and this one really suits the situation. Apart from the obvious, Love Island is very different to big brother, the captives/celebrities/residents, call them what you will are allowed to talk about the outside world and they are allowed communication back home. I wouldn’t have a problem if BB was like this, although minus the “how well am I doing?”,”do the public hate me?” blah blah, blah!

Anyway as I mentioned, Victoria is going back in to the resort on Sunday and if she lives up to her promises, it could be one hell of a bumpy ride for Sophie….Rubbing hands with glee !! Apparently the plan is to have Sophie meet Victoria in the not so secret suite and have it out. I just hope they make it a little more public – I for one can’t wait to see the look not only on Sophie’s face but Chris too!

Big Brother

Meanwhile in Big Brother, Welsh babe Imogen was evicted as expected, at one point her odds on eviction were 1/50 in favour, huge odds although not as big as Sezer’s! Imogen was evicted with 62% of the votes. This then left the house mates to choose which ex-house mate would re-enter the main house and stand a chance of winning the £100,000 prize. As I mentioned in a previous entry, Nikki was voted in (Glyn had no vote due to “punishment”), it all sucks and smells of a fix to have Nikki back with Pete – am I the only one who thinks the relationship is so false? Nikki is now playing up to the cameras, thinking she knows what the public want.

It will be interesting to see what she says about her sex video now, I’m sure it will be one hell of a shock for the poor girl who had no intentions of releasing what is essentially a very private video. One thing they can’t take away from her, she has broken the record for the longest time spent in a big brother house by a female – well done babes!

Can someone please someone pass me the sick bag. For someone who confessed her undying love for Father Shane not 24 hours earlier, she has totally changed tack and jumped into bed with ex (in the real life) Chris Brosnan. Not only that, the picture of Sophie and Chris clinging on to each other, lips locked and hugging as if their life depended on it, is frankly disturbing!

On the other hand, I fear for Leo and Bianca’s relationship now that her heart-throb (Callum Best) has joined the Z celebrities on the island and confessed he really fancies Bianca. The pair have been very touchy feely today and the fact that the pair will surely be voted into the love shack might be too much for young Bianca to resist, he is a fox !!!

Big brother on the other hand threw up few surprises today with Richard and Imogen up against each other for Friday’s eviction, both receiving three votes each. The four house-mates going back into the house next door are:

no surprise there then!!! I wonder who (cough Nikki) will get voted into the main house on Friday.You should by now know I’m not a happy bunny when it comes to BB this year, I think the producers have spoiled a great summer institution and no amount of rule changing will alter my feelings. Don’t get me wrong, whatever the decision and the eventual winner, I’ll be watching next year, I just hope it gives me something more to watch than it has this year.

Oh dear, Oh dear! Big brother are in trouble following over 600 complaints to Ofcom following Channel 4′s decision to put an evicted Big Brother contestant back in the house. As I mentioned in an earlier post I think the whole thing has turned into a farce of gigantic proportions now.

According to Media Guardian four of the nine evicted housemates have a chance of returning to the main house, they will enter the second house in a live show on Wednesday. Following the regular Friday night eviction, the remaining housemates (main house) will then get to choose which one they want to return back into the house. I doubt they will be told that the person they choose has a chance to take the money away from them !!

Sure they are trying to placate viewers by saying the money will be donated to charity, it simply doesn’t wash with me. Endemol have also said they have seen record breaking voting since the announcement was made on Friday night.

“It is a record breaking vote,” the source said. “We have never had a bigger response in this time period. People love a storm but the truth is this appears to be one of our better moments. There is a massive appetite for it. In the time we have had it is way ahead of anything else for this series. It has clearly caught the imagination and it is on course to beat everything.”

Only time will tell if Ofcom act on the number of complaints, 600 for any tv programme is a lot in anyone’s eyes, isn’t it ?

Folowing my little rant last night after Endemol and Channel 4 decided to yet again change the rules and winning formula of Big brother, I now have more information on why Bonnie wasn’tallowed back in the house! You couldn’t have written a script like this, one of those “only in the movies”! Apparently before going in to the house Bonnie was caught shoplifting – but wait for it, she stole pizzas !!!! Police are currently investigating the theft and allowed her to go into the house and said they would deal with the matter when she left the house. Looks like they haven’t settled the case then.

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were notorious robbers and criminals who traveled the central United States during the Great Depression. They were remembered as major bank robbers but Clyde’s preference was for holding up small gas stations. It was said that Bonnie never fired a shot during a robbery.

They were shot by a posse of four Texas and two Louisiana officers (the Louisiana pair added solely for jurisdictional reasons — an aspect of pre-FBI America that Clyde had exploited to its fullest when selecting robbery and hideout locations). I now know Big brother have lost the plot. Ok, let me start from earlier tonight, Mikey was first to go followed 40 minutes later by Susie – both evicted. In my opinion that was certainly the right choice, Mikey had become a prat this last week and all Susie did for her entire stay was moan about hi-gene, drink bucket loads of tea and complain about the boys farting and picking noses! Why spend over £4000 to get into a show you had no intention of letting yourself go and join in with the fun?

Davina then announced that four ex-house mates would be up to the public vote and the most popular ex house mates would then move into the house next door with one of those four eligible to go back into the main house. I don’t like this idea, Big brother have messed around with the rules all series and it’s just pathetic, I just wish we could go back to earlier BB’s when things were so much better. I had so wanted to get hooked into this year’s series but I more or less gave up after week three, the producers got the quality of house mates all wrong.

Anyway back to tonight. Why oh why oh why can the ex house mate who gets voted back into the main house next week be eligible to win the main prize ? This really does suck. I might be on my own here but there’s no surprise that Nikki will be the one to go back in and given her popularity out of the house she’s going to win the main prize. I find it all sad. I’m just glad I don’t waste my money on this crazy reality show any more. I can’t see me watching the final week for the first time since BB began seven years ago.

Interesting times ahead in Big Brother UK this week following a “malfunction” when the names of those up for eviction were announced. Only Imogen’s name was clearly heard which meant that Aisleyne and Glyn were safe as Big brother always announces names in alphabetical order. It has now been leaked by a national newspaper that three others will be joining Imogen for eviction on Friday. They are Susie, Mikey and Jennie. According to the bookmakers Mikey is now a certain to leave the house on Friday but who knows, only you decide!!

The race to win seems to be clear cut with Pete and Glyn aiming to be the next Big brother winner with support for the Welshman growing daily. If it had been down to just Imogen and Susie I think Imogen would be going but the bookies have seen something they don’t like in Mikey this week and the results could be very interesting. I’d be delighted if jennie gets to stay another week, she’s without doubt my favourite of all the females in the house. That said I wouldn’t shed a tear if Susie was eliminated, what has she done since going in the house expcept made a cup of tea every five minutes and be a mother hen to the house mates.

Another interesting development in the house over the last few days is Jennie and Pete’s relationship but Glyn threw his weight into the mix by spooning Jennie earlier today, Jennie loving every minute of it apparently. Yet again we see another love triangle in this house, will this mean the end of Jennie’s stay? Who knows, watch and find out.
