24: 1800 – 2000 – amazing double header

Is it me or does Fox’s 24 get better and better? I’ve just finished watching the double header (episodes 11 and 12 or 6pm – 8pm) and I was left in awe at the writing, storyline and of course the great acting! The series follows on from the special Redemption Film.

IMPORTANT WARNING – please do not continue reading if you are in the UK and haven’t watched the double header broadcast on Sky on the 9th March. Again, please do not continue reading if you do not want to know what happened! if you do want to read on please follow the image jump!

Well done, you made it – read on !!!

One thing that was predictable about the double header was the attack would take place inside the White House.  The house has always been seen as the safe haven for everyone and a general no go area for terrorists but not anymore. How many times do we find ourselves shouting at the tv – when Jack tells us there’s a credible threat, believe him – he’s a hero, he can do no wrong!!!

Agent Walker stumbles across proof that the General and his men are planning an attack on Abe’s house and jumps into the water to warn the government. She fails to make it in time and his men find a way through a secret tunnel (National Treasure or Dave anyone?!!!) and start killing secret agents and White House staffers, taking the remaining staffers hostage.

Bill Buchanan releases the under arrest Bauer so he can help rescue the President to the lockdown area. Ten’s of agents are killed as the terrorists approach the President but Jack manages to secure the leader in the lockdown (strong room). With the President trapped they warn off …

24 to get eighth and final season

Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 character Jack Bauer gets to live another day!

The hit show’s executive producer Howard Gordon has told E! that there will be an eighth season of the series.

“We’re gearing up for a May start date,” he said. “I’m with the writers now just putting our heads together, coming up with an idea. Unless we fail to come up with an idea that’s satisfactory, you’ll see an eighth season.”

However, the producer also hinted that the eight season could be Jack Bauer’s last, despite rumours of a possible post series movie.

“We may decide ultimately if there’s not a movie (story] worth telling, Jack may see his last day on television,” he said. “He could die in the series. I think that’s possible.”

Sutherland says he’s undecided as to whether day 8 will be his last, he’s watching the clock in a way he never has before.

“I don’t think about [the end of 24] a lot, but I did this year for the first time,” he confesses. “It was one of those weird moments where the stage was unusually quiet; it was like a ghost town. I was looking around [thinking] about all the work that went into building this thing and it hit me: This will end one day, and I’m going to be sad about it.

“Whether season 8 is the end or not, I don’t know,” he continues. “I love making the show, so I’m leaving my options open. And in all fairness, I think the audience will dictate that more than anybody.”

So there you have it! The end is not quite set in concrete but the producers have started the machines and the cement is being prepared. Terrorists around the world rejoice, Jack only has a day left on his …

24 Season 6 Finale

Look it's the lovely Nadia !!Another season draws to a close and Bauer lives on to save us from evil. Let’s face it the fact that he has signed for another couple of seasons sort of gives it away but nonetheless it’s still great to see Jack kill 11 baddies in the final episode. As far as season finale’s go it was a rather tepid one, I guess indicative of the season as a whole to be fair – not one of Jack’s strongest days! That said it certainly had its shocks and excitement – who would have thought a nuclear bomb would go off and that Jack would kill Curtis by shooting him in the neck – his buddy over the last few seasons went in the blink of an eye!!

I’m looking forward to the next season now and can’t wait to see how they pick the next president ! I can’t see Palmer coming back anytime soon and I hope for everyone’s sake that the Vice President isn’t commander in chief the next time CTU have a small problem. Mind you, anything is better than the pin cushion that is ex President Logan.

I was disappointed that Jack’s sister in law didn’t get a bigger part in the series, maybe next time. Is Jack the father ? We won’t know; will we ever find out? !

Be very interested to see what people thought of the ending of episode 24 – was it too quiet, boring ? I quite liked the last ten minutes of the programme, allowing us to see a tender side to Jack although I was just waiting for someone to whack him on the head as he sat on the bed holding her hand !! The episode ended with Jack looking down at the cliff and contemplating what …
