Michael Buble – Lost

By Milo

Every now and then you come across a song that you can’t switch off and before tonight’s drive home from work it was Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl” from the movie Flicka. About five minutes into the drive tonight the cd flicked over to Michael Buble’s “Lost” – track six from his album “Call Me Irresponsible”. The haunting words and awesome delivery from Buble had me in awe and as soon as the track ended I hit return and the pleasure began once again.

He co-wrote “Lost” with another promising Canadian singer Jann Arden, and pianist Alan Chang. If you’d like to check out the music then why not visit the wonderful youtube for a fan’s version of the video, set to stills. I’ve no idea if Buble will release this song as a single but I hope he does just so I can see how he sees the video !!! Youtube Video Here

I can’t believe it’s over
I watched the whole thing fall
And I never saw the writing that was on the wall
If I don’t land
Days were slipping past
That the good things never last
That you were crying

Summer turned to winter
And the snow it turned to rain
And the rain turned into tears upon your face (I love these three lines, very simple, very clever !)
I hardly recognized the girl you are today
And god I hope it’s not too late
It’s not too late
‘Cause you are not alone
I’m always there with you
And we’ll get lost together
Till the light comes pouring through
‘Cause when you feel like you’re done
And the darkness has won
Babe, you’re not lost
When your worlds crashing down
And you can’t bear to fall
I said, babe, you’re not lost

Life can show no mercy
It can tear your soul apart
It can make you feel like you’ve gone crazy
But you’re not
Things have seem to changed
There’s one thing that’s still the same
In my heart you have remained
And we can fly fly fly away

‘Cause you are not alone
And I am there with you
And we’ll get lost together
Till the light comes pouring through
‘Cause when you feel like you’re done
And the darkness has won
Babe, you’re not lost
When the worlds crashing down
And you can not bear to crawl
I said, baby, you’re not lost

When I first heard “LOST” and said WOW. This song is so powerful, I immediately took out booklet that came with the CD and sang along with Michael.

I can’t stop listening to this song, over and over. Michael has a real winner of a song here, I think better over “Everything”.

Yes, incredible song, recently was lucky enough to go his concert, but he didn’t perform the song. The songs he co-writes are all amazing

I really like the song, but there is something in the chorus that reminds me of another song. Don’t get me wrong, I love this song. I just can’t quite figure it out and wondering if anyone else has noticed that it sounds quite similar to another song or songs.
When he starts in with “Cause you are not alone…” reminded me of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”.

But then the chorus moves into the lines “Cause when you feel like you’re done, and the darkness has won…” Right there it sounds like another part of another songs chorus. The last part, “babe, you’re not lost” doesn’t have the same notes.

Anyway, if anyone knows what I’m talking about, I would appreciate it if you could post the name of the song. It’s been killing me.

Love the song…but it does have a Gun and Roses “November Rain” feel to it at times.

    Mark,

You are totally right, there is a part in this song that sounds familiar but I still can’t figure out which song it is!

I am still looking for THE answer while listening to this great new song ‘Lost’!

i think the bit -’you are not alone’ reminds me of the michael jackson song of the same title. In fact when i first heard micheal sing that line i thought it was going to go into that song!!

I adore Michael’s voice. I think the part of the song:

    Summer turned to winter
And the snow it turned to rain
And the rain turned into tears upon your face

reminds me of an Elvis song, especially the last line. Don’t know the song, but I could just hear Elvis sing that line.

Great song, however – your lyrics are incorrect.

There are parts of this song sound so much like another song. I just can’t place it. It is driving me nuts. Actually it is not the chorus but the part just before: “Days were slipping past
That the good things never last.” I think it was a song sung by a female. I thought maybe it is was Christina Aguilera’s “Hurt”. It may be an older song. Does any one else hear what I am hearing?

  13. Joe on February 23, 2008 at 1:18 am

It reminds me of a song which I am sure its on the sound track to a Hugh Grant film.

Got it – ‘She’ by Elvis Costello from Notting Hill.

    Anyone else agree?

Ive just listened to ‘she’ and it doesnt resemble it! This song is doing my head in coz I just cant put the tip of my tongue on what other song it reminds me off! ARGHH! I think it is around the time he sings ’cause when you feel like your done, and the darkness has won, babe your not lost!

    “When your worlds crashing down
“And you cannot bear the cross”

    I believe are right words…..

The ending of “Same Auld Lang Syne” by Dan Fogelberg – the snow turned into rain.
