Prison Break Season 2 – Manhunt

Well what can I say, what a terrific opening episode to Season 2 of Prison Break. The post below will contain spoilers from the first episode and if you don’t want to know anything then please look away now! You have been warned.

The writing doesn’t appear to have lost its edge since the first season’s hiatus in fact it has become a little sharper with a lot of little twists here and there adding to the tense drama. The episode kicks off in the early hours of the morning after the night before! The writers for some reason decided that the manhunt should begin as far as the viewers are concerned in daylight, probably less expensive to shoot in the light! Bellick is back, pissed! All the regulars are there in some shape or form, T-Bag with his hand in a cooler of ice he stole from a couple of campers, Scofield looking as cool as ever and Abruzzi ever so menacing. If you missed the first episode, Manhunt, Fox have the episode available for streaming.

One of the major additions to the cast this season is Invasion’s Williams Fichtner and although I was concerned with his casting he put in a stellar performance as the clever FBI agent in charge of apprehending the escaped prisoners, otherwise known as “The Fox River 8”. I was amazed at how quickly he put two and two together and figured out that Michael’s tattoo was key to everything and included all the information they needed to capture the cons. Even though as a viewer I knew how important the tattoo was I never once thought about the repercussions of the tattoo falling into the wrong hands.

Two Big Spoilers Alert! ………….The Hot Doc lives ;-) I was so happy when Sara woke up from the coma, I had all but given up hope of her making it to the new season alive but very very happy! Possibly the biggest shock of the first episode was the unexpected slaying of Victoria. This opened another can of worms with the incarceration of the President’s brother (now played by a new actor) and why he was being kept locked up in the house. All strange but I just loved the way how they planted seeds, changed plots and introduced the new characters. There is no doubt that on the strength of this first episode, Prison Break is to go from strength to strength.

The image included is a message from Michael to Sara. This has to be some sort of code and knowing she didn’t throw away the flower he made for her must assume she will keep the paper bird. I haven’t figured it out just yet but I just hope it’s a puzzle we have to solve to make any sense of!
