Play Suspended following cheating allegations

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, it just isn’t cricket ! No, really it isn’t ! The Oval Test has been turned on its head following ball-tampering allegations by Australian umpire Darrell Hair. England were awarded five runs and the ball was replaced after the umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove decided the ball had been altered artificially.

Hair is no stranger to controversy and Pakistan have publicly complained to the ICC that he is not the right umpire to officiate between the two countries. As it stands right now, the umpires have awarded the game to England and as far as they are concerned the game is over !

This is really crazy and all I hope is that Hair has seen ball-tampering and has proof because if he hasn’t and all he has done is suspect that something wrong has happened then we could be in for some serious ramifications. We probably are anyway but this is very interesting. No further play will happen today, only time will tell if it resumes tomorrow morning.…

“Invictus” by William Earnest Henley

I was reminded of this poem today and thought I’d share it with anyone else who happens to stumble upon my blog. I think it’s an awesome piece and certainly deserves the spotlight, even if it is my blog !!!

William Ernest Henley 1849 – 1903 wrote this amazing poem whilst hospitalised for 18 months in his early life through tubercolosis of the bone which led to him losing one of his legs from the knee down and his other being saved only by his own refusal to have it removed and the brilliant treatment of the great Joseph Lister the pioneer of anastesia…..Henley was an outspoken articulate plainspeaking athiest..and this poem asserts the indomitability of the human spirit “no Gods need to apply, the power of the human spirit is enough” is basicaly what he is expressing..

175 years later this poem was used by Timothy McVeigh the Oklahoma bomber in the united states as a last written statememnt to be read after his execution for bombing an FBI building in the city of Oklahoma…Mcveigh too claimed to be an athiest….. Henley was an editor and publisher and a lifelong friend of Robert Louis Stevenson ..Stevenson actualy based his “Long John Silver” pirate character from “Treasure Island” upon his friend Henly who he described affectionately as “Pirately”

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,…

Without A Trace – Classic

I’ve just sat through what I think is the best and funniest episode (Check My Head) I’ve ever seen of “Without A Trace”. In parts it had me laughing so loud I thought the neighbours would be knocking at the door to complain! Don’t get me wrong, there have been a few comical moments over the last few seasons but this was pure genius!

The episode had just about everything for me, drama, tension, superb quotes, agoraphobia, comedy and great acting. It was also great to see the team move out of their comfort zone and try something a little unexpected.

One such scene was when Jack and Danny were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who would talk to Rachel. When Jack loses and walks away Danny gives the explanation “It’s an FBI thing“. The officer just looked and I could imagine him using it on his next case!

But what had me laughing the loudest was when Jack chose a song on the mini jukebox at the end of the episode, “That’s Amore” echoed over the sound system and he and Danny then crossed arms, looking menacing and important they sang along with the track giving each other a knowing smile. Absolute classic!First Season Available on DVD – Cheap !

I hope we see more episodes like this but not all the time, that’s what makes this episode so special. One of my favourite quotes from the episode is between Jack and Rachel (Christina Hendricks, “Beggars and Choosers”) at the bowling alley:-

Rachel Gibson: What is wrong with you?
Jack Malone: We don’t have enough time to discuss that subject. What is wrong with you?
Rachel Gibson: I’m an agoraphobic.
Jack Malone: You live fifteen miles from …

Erica Chevillar Bikini Clad Teacher

Erica Chevillar possibly the hottest ever teacher to grace the educational system has been eliminated from the 2006 $250,000 Diva Search on WWE’s RAW in Memphis, Tenn. It’s funny the stories you find when you start looking, especially following the Tamara Hoover story I posted yesterday. I have to admit, although I had heard of Erica from the Diva search, I had no idea that she was the teacher in the centre of the bikini storm when pictures appeared on a website, sound familiar ? !

According to the Sun Sentinal, Erica couldn’t make ends meet as a teacher and decided to pose in her bikini and lingerie to make some extra cash. I guess she managed that then! In May this year Erica who was paid $31,000 a year teaching had no regrets citing that she didn’t think anyone would find the pictures! Well they did and she has moved on to bigger and better things including the WWE Diva search this month.

“The West Boca Raton High School teacher became the focus of an investigation earlier in the week after a parent complained about the photos at a school board meeting.” That made me laugh, I wonder what the parent was doing looking for naughty bikini pictures!! I honestly can’t see anything wrong in this, she wasn’t doing porn and teaching, she wasn’t stripping and teaching so where’s the harm? How many times do we see less coverage on the beach, pictures are taken on holiday but at least these were professionally done and in good taste.

Maybe it’s because I’m a red blooded male but I can’t see anything wrong with the pictures at all. They’ve done no harm and helped a struggling teacher make ends meet! The pictures were taken in January at the US
