Love Island – Fiji Eviction

The only shock with tonight’s Love Island eviction was that Colleen was one of the three in danger of leaving the show after just four weeks. Chris Brosnan has always flirted with premature eviction on the show and new girl bikini model Emily was never going to survive against an original house mate.

And so it came to pass that Emily was evicted from the show and Chris survived another week. It’s quite possible that given ITV’s form of introducing new people in as someone is evicted we may see Chris staying for another week !

Well that’s it, she didn’t do enough to keep her on and let’s face it even though I don’t like Sophie Anderton she does keep viewers amused by her behaviour – she’s still going to get a hell of a shock when evicted though !!! — Sophie Anderton Rant at Paul Video
Emily Scott has left the show, more astute viewers will recognise her from Robbie Williams’ Rock DJ video. Another surprise eviction follows tomorrow ITV have just announced so it looks possible Chris or Kelly (my prediction) might be leaving. Only time will tell.…

Big Brother Eviction – The Pairs

An emotional episode tonight, a combination of highlights and an eviction saw the prisoners released and all received letters from home. Unfortunately Pete being a former prisoner (he swapped places with Richard before knowing about the secret beach) wasn’t allowed his letter and he took it hard.

Richard heard that his mum was surviving Chemotherapy and Glyn that his family were proud. The rest of the house mates were in tears as the letters were read. Quite easily the most emotional part of Big brother this year.

On to the eviction, the result was expected and we saw the back of both Spiral and Michael, both receiving the fewest amount of save votes from the public. How the hell Susie can still be in the house after all she does is drink tea is beyond me. I’ll be glad when she goes, she certainly doesn’t deserve to be in the final five.

All three groups received boos when Davina introduced the couples during the channel 4 highlight show but by far the less were for Pete and Richard. Spiral and Michael received the most vociferous negativity from a partisan crowd.…

Marion Jones runs at Crystal Palace, London

I’ve just watched Marion Jones run in the 100 metres at Crystal Palace and she was beaten by Sherone Simpson of Jamaica into second place. Jones didn’t have a terrific start and looked a little lethargic in the first 40 metres and when Simpson moved away Jones reacted but didn’t quite have enough to overhaul her competitor. Simpson clocked 11.00 with Jones a short distance behind ina time of 11.05.

It was the first time Jones had raced in the UK for 2 years and given the number of allegations regarding drug taking by her former husbands and her four coaches, Jones has always been guilty by association, unfairly in my book. She has never been caught taking performance enhancing drugs in her career and given modern technology and the fact that she has won so much in her track career, surely she would have been caught by now if she had been taking drugs? EDIT:19th August: Jones Tests Positive

“I’m a competitor, I like to win. We had a heavy win in our face and that’s why you didn’t see a great run. I’m feeling good and getting back into it.”

Talking of the great reception she got from the local crowd she had this to say “Absolutely, people know the truth, I have lots of supporters around the world and here in Britain.”

“I’m not tainted by what people are saying, they are going to say what they want to say and the fact that I’m out here this year, running better than I have since I had my son in 2003 I think it’s proven to a lot of people that I can’t spend my time worrying. I have to concentrate on running”.

Only time will tell if Nike will stand by her. She is out of …

Flicka Movie and Tim McGraw

McGraw and LohmanHas anyone seen Flicka starring Tim McGraw and Alison Lohman ? I have to admit I didn’t know about the movie until I searched for news on McGraw being a fan of his music but am now curious to see what other people think of it? Not sure when it comes out in the UK but I’m sure we’ll have to wait a while. Is the soundtrack any good ?

Based on the novel “My Friend Flicka” by Mary OHara, “Flicka” is set against the backdrop of a modern-day ranch in Wyoming. It tells the story of Katie (Lohman), a teenager who dreams of running her familys ranch, much to the dismay of her father (McGraw); his hopes are pinned on her older brother. In the tale, Katie finds a wild horse she names Flicka and claims it for her own.

Any comments on the film, the scenery (believe it was filmed on a ranch in Wyoming), the acting etc ? I hope someone has seen it !!…

Bush and Blair meet …. Israel

Tony Blair has set off for Washington for his meeting with President Bush at The White House. It’ll be the first meeting since they left a microphone open and were complimenting each other, Bush thanking Blair for his sweater and Blair remarking that “I made it !”. Just goes to show what two of the biggest leaders of the free world talk about, knitting patterns !!!

I’m not sure where the conflict in Lebanon will go but I hope it ends soon, Israel’s reaction has been to say the least “too strong” and “disproportional”. Neither side is helping matters but anything other than a call for an immediate ceasefire would be unacceptable. Why hasn’t this been called for before now ? Who knows what Blair will ask Bush, only time will tell.

Earlier in the week it was revealed that America used Prestwick airport to transfer bombs to Israel, the same bombs used to attack Lebanon killing and maiming dozens of innocent civilians. The latest number of Lebanese killed has now been confirmed at 425 after 17 days of conflict.

After the White House, the PM will fly on to California to address executives at Rupert Murdoch’s News International, for the first time since 1995 when he was in the opposition party.

Backbench Labour MPs are increasingly urging Mr Blair to put aside his refusal to call for an immediate ceasefire and there has also been private criticism from inside the Cabinet.

One other subject that will surely be on the agenda is the notorious “special relationship” the two countries have where the US have taken for granted that the UK will back whatever the US decide. The time has come for us to question this and for the first time in many a year, both public and ministers …

Missing JAG and Catherine Bell

I’ve just finished watching an old episode of JAG, a re-run of one of the earlier seasons and I thought how much I missed not only Catherine Bell’s beauty but the wit and comedy of the TV Series starring Catherine and David James Elliot (Harmon). I enjoyed JAG from the outset, it was always light and easy to watch, comical at first but I loved how they “integrated” Clinton in the early episodes as if he was really part of the show – we all know he wasn’t but it was young and set the foundations for a 10 season show – how many get that much of a run these days?

Catherine Bell as has her co-star gone has gone from strength to strength, both working hard in the industry. It was however the sexy Bell that made the show for me, the will they won’t they story line, the writing and of course the court room drama. It was a shame when they decided to end the show but all good things come to an end. Fortunately for us, the show gave us a spin off called NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) starring Mark Harmon.

NCIS is better written and slicker than JAG, the original growing tired in the last couple of seasons unsure as to the direction it wanted to take. Webb and Mac’s relationship was a curious one for me, I never quite understood the thinking behind it. I’ll add more about NCIS which has quickly become one of my favourite shows on tv today.…

Tour de France – Landis Caught?

Floyd LandisWhy on earth do today’s sports stars continue with dope taking ? I just don’t understand why, in an age of technological scientific wizardry when 99.9% of “alleged cheaters” will be caught if taking performance enhancing drugs, athletes of all descriptions chance their muscle bound arm by taking the drugs.

Take the new Tour de France winner, American Ffloyd Landis, he was tested positive for excess levels of testosterone after winning stage 17 of this year’s race. The 30 year old has denied the allegations stating he hopes to prove he has a high level of testosterone in his body naturally. However Landis is already talking like a defeatist

I don’t know what the explanation for it is, whether it was a mistake or whether it’s an occurance from some other circumstances that go on in the race or something I did” he said.

If they are caught, and I’m not for one second saying Landis was cheating until proven, surely they know they will be ridiculed and ostracised by the public and sponsors – so nothing but negative notoriety is gained ? I just don’t understand it. I’m always looking for the positive in people and hope this is a blip but it’s not playing out like that at the moment. Landis has been suspended by his Phonak team.

All I’m asking for is that I be given a chance to prove that I’m innocent. Cycling has a traditional way of trying people in the court of public opinion before they get a chance to do anything else. “I would like to be presumed innocent until proven guilty – since that’s the way we do things in America.”

Only time will tell but it’s not looking good for Landis and his career.…

Love Island hots up in the rain !

Well I have to say despite my misgivings a couple of days ago, Love Island is getting very very interesting ! First of all as we have all seen, Sophie Anderton has lost the plot, again and again and guess what; again ! The woman is un hinged on national television. Every day she since she spent time with Lynch in the love shack she has warned the women away from her Shane. Tonight during a bust up with Love Island regular Paul Denan she said “apparently I’m supposed to be in love with Shane, yeh right, when have I ever said that? !!!” or words to that effect. Come on Anderton, don’t you realise we can see everything you say ? !!

Sophie AndertonTonight’s bust up occurred following a group game where people had to stand up if they had done something similar to a celebrity holding court i.e. if a certain celeb said she had had sex in an aeroplane, then all those that had also had sex in an aeroplane stood up !! Anderton then told everyone she had a one night stand on her birthday but wouldn’t elaborate saying it was in all the papers. Patrick Kielty who hosts the show hinted that a certain person wasn’t completely sober on her birthday when she met Axel Rose and the two “got it on” !!!

Following the game Anderton didn’t like the fact that people were drinking due to her being sober for two years blah blah !!!

The other shock of the evening apart from Lee saying he’s get Paul to tackle 6 foot 6 inch Dennis Rodman if he stole “his bird” (and getting Brendan Cole to do ballet and kick him in the nuts) was Bianca and Leo spending 27 minutes, quality …
